Salubrious Salutations
My name is Liana Goninon and I am an artist, currently residing and practicing in Newcastle (Muloobinba), Australia.
I work across painting, watercolour, drawing, sound, multimedia and performance; creating pieces for a time of great change.
My paintings are created using my own hand made solvent-free oil paint and are embedded with layers of prayer and magic.
The purpose of my life’s work is to offer pathways of healing for the audience through working with the unconscious, the symbolic dimension and exposing my own vulnerability and processes. Ultimately, my aim is to increase consciousness and our understanding of it by collaborating with the ‘otherness’ that exists within all of us; the process of integration.
In becoming aware of the way the unconscious actually functions, I believe the greatest and most necessary changes that humanity needs to make can be effected quickly and in a way that is also deeply healing and nourishing.
Through my endeavour to turn the inner eye, I often push my mind to the brink for the sake of my art. It is not an easy undertaking and I often go through undulations of embodying the hermit archetype as I delve into my research and practice.
